you can help

Hi, my name is Shay and I'm a happy kid. I was born with Optic Nerve Hypoplasia and am legally blind. In 2013 I participated in my first bicycle race, El Tour de Tucson, in order to raise money for a great cause. I raised money for a charity that is dear to my heart, Camp Abilities Tucson. I have attended camp for several years and know firsthand the impact that this organization has on the blind youth community in Tucson and surrounding areas.

I love cycling. My first experience on a tandem bike was at Camp Abilities Tucson. Cycling is my favorite of the many activities at the camp. Then I had a thought, a vision if you will, to encourage and enable visually impaired kids to become more active through cycling. My goal is to see more visually impaired kids on tandem bikes enjoying the freedom and excitement I feel when I'm riding.

That's when Shay's Vision was born. Now my vision is made possible because of generous donations from organizations and members of our community. Any help you can provide is greatly appreciated. So far we have 3 tandems bikes, and we have our sights on 15 of those beauties!  All money raised for Shay's Vision will go toward the purchase of multiple tandem bicycles to be used for weekend bike rides and local cycling events.  The tandem bikes will also be used yearly by 30 visually impaired kids at Camp Abilities Tucson. If you would like any additional information, feel free to contact me. Shay's Vision and Camp Abilities Tucson are registered 501 (c) 3 organizations. As Camp Abilities Tucson always says, "A Loss of Sight, Never A Loss of Vision!"

Thanks for reading my story. Let's ride!
